Embellished Nails (Singaporean Style)
During the weeks I spent in Singapore over Christmas, I couldn't help but become really aware of the fact that a lot of women seem to spend an incredible amount of effort over their nails! Singapore is literally FILLED with shopping malls, with almost every shopping mall housing at least one nail salon! Amazingly to me, whenever I walked past one it would be filled with women having manicures and pedicures. Personally, I would never even think to have a pedicure because firstly, I hate having my feet touched, and secondly, (as far as I'm aware...) nobody sees and judges the attractiveness of my feet on a regular basis?! So when speaking to my wise old Granny, she told me it's probably because women always have their feet on show in sandals and flip-flops because of the heat! I'm all for good grooming, but there is a limit I will reach as to how much I really care about my feet. There also seemed to be a big market for embellished/jewelled nails and so I thought it'd be rude not to join in the fun! So here is the result!
I had these done on Christmas eve and they only cost $19 (about £10!) They're Swarovski crystals stuck onto a multi-coloured glitter base, so not too difficult to re-create at home. I loved them, but I'd probably never wear them here in England because they were pretty impractical and mainly more of a bit of Christmas Day fun than anything else, but you know what they say... When in Rome!
A ♥
Wow, your nails look gorgeous! I'm exactly the same with pedicures, not a huge fan at all! xx
ReplyDeleteI love the base colour, so pretty but agree with not wearing on a regular basis over here! I have the same issue with pedicures as well!! xx
ReplyDeleteI love them, not practical but beautiful none the less! xo
ReplyDeleteYour nails look lovely! I've always wanted to try doing something like this but I never seem to find a time where I could have such impractical nails! xxx
ReplyDeleteThey are so cute! You can get little nail art sets with gems & pearls in them in pound shops so it would be easy enough for you to recreate it. Would be lovely with a navy polish x

Wow! That is so unique and beautiful :) love!
ReplyDeleteI love these, so pretty and so much fun! Definitely a special occasion thing though! I know exactly what you mean about pedicures, when my feet eventually do come out in the summer I think a slick of red polish applied at home does the trick just fine, would rather not let a stranger inspect my feet!

ReplyDeleteI've never been one to consider pedicures either, until I found myself sitting in a salon having my feet nibbled by fish. Sort of jumped the gun and went for the most extreme procedure, but it was amazing! x
